The After Hours and Social Capital team work together to foster a stronger sense of community and greater awareness of local happenings.

Some of their work has included developing The Weekender, an e-Newsletter partnership with the Hutchinson News and WhatsUpHutch.com, the Explore Hutch monthly event, and social media training for arts/culture organizations and area attractions.

Explore Hutch

Explore Hutch events were developed through the Growth Coalition’s After Hours index team and occur on the second Friday of every month at a local attraction. Each is a little different; some might be outdoors, some may be only for adults and others family friendly. You can always expect a unique opportunity … the chance to see or do something you wouldn’t on a regular visit. Plus, musical performances by local musicians and exhibits by local artists are highlights of each night.

Past hosts have included the Kansas State Fair where visitors got to spend the evening in the Entertainers Lounge. At Dillon Nature Center participants brought their lawn chairs to listen to the music of the Hutchinson Symphony in the garden area while also taking canoe rides on the pond. The evening at the Salt Museum offered attendees the chance to see an art exhibit by local photographers and a venture on the Dark Walk six hundred fifty feet underground.
